Communication is a fundamental skill. Often we think we’re communicating, when we’re really not. Unfortunately, communication is often regarded as such a basic skill that we take it for granted. There’s more to communication than just talking.

Teaches a model for influencing, emphasizing how to create a strong foundation for influencing. Participants learn how to ask for what they want, decrease defensiveness, increase trust, deal with "no," create buy-in and commitment, facilitate problem-solving and problem-ownership, and confront without conflict or guilt. Includes interactive practice for immediate results.

Improving Your Listening Skills®

When people feel listened to, they’re more relaxed and open, making it easier for us to interact with them in work situations and to achieve our objectives. The goal of this program is to help participants get these kinds of results when communicating with others. Participants will discover the specific characteristics of the five different listening approaches used in communication, discover their most natural listening approaches, explore their strengths and challenges as listeners, identify effective listening approaches and behaviors, and practice modifying their listening approaches to meet the communication needs of team members.

Suggested Audience: Individuals and leaders who wish to improve listening skills in order to build trust, create commitment to shared goals, and improve group performance.

Program Length: 4.25 to 5.5 hours (not including breaks.)

Personal Listening®

Overcoming communication barriers and learning to listen and respond with purpose. The Personal Listening Profile & Training Course helps people understand different listening styles and provides suggestions for communication skills improvement. Organizations use it to improve management effectiveness, develop leaders, and boost productivity.

Improving Communication

This program shows participants that genuine communication requires a deep understanding of another person’s perspective, and leaves them with a gut-level appreciation for the needs of their co-workers. It help participants understand the DiSC model of human nature and develop an appreciation for personal differences, get feedback to see the different ways their behaviors are interpreted by their co-workers, read about their co-workers’ DiSC styles and learn how to anticipate their unique preferences, gain an empathetic understanding of why their co-workers act the way they do, recognize the types of communication strategies that build a culture of alliance and collaboration. Ultimately, the program helps participants adapt their communication styles in a way that creates an enduring working alliance among group members.

Adapting to Different Styles
